I have been fooling again with my Murata M18. I have Original Winchester Loaded ammo. But since There 1880's vintage . I chose to pull 10 apart and load Them. All had Berdan Primers 6.45 mm and were NG
I ended up Reprimind with with new RWS 6.45 MM primer and 45Gn 777 by weight reclaiming the Original Paper Patch Boolit
Results were as decent as expected .
The inherent problem with the Murata is the weekness in the bolt leaf spring. Out of the 10 /6 were fired, 2 of which had to be struck Twice.. The one's That did Not fire had a week firing Pin strike
The original BP load was 79 Gn by weight. Black appeared to be 1 F

Your spring has lost its tension.
All three of my Murata rifles suffered weak and erratic firing pin strikes.
I had all three of my Murata springs re-heat treated by a local custom spring maker.
The problems went away.

You can find information online about heat treating springs, so it could be a do it yourself thing.

But since I was lucky and had an expert in the area, I just had mine professionally done.
But that was 30 years ago, and the shop is now long gone.

Saw a seller on Gunbroker claim that 11mm Tula factoryBP ammo for the Russian Berdan rifle can also be used for the Japanese 11mm (Type 18 1885 presumably) BP rifle; anybody ever heard of this or tried this?

I have herd this before and i have tried it. Yes they will some what Chamber but the base is too small. I have brass for Both. But 11mm Gras is the best Choice. I use original Winchester Berdan cases.
