Pewter question

I am picking up some pewter tomorrow. 13 pieces. Says it weighs about 21 pounds. She also says it is all marked Wilton mount joy pa pewter. I'm buying it for $50. First off, I'm assuming this is a decent deal? What should I expect for percentage of tin?

Damn. She sent a photo and it's marked RWP. Apparently this stuff isn't pewter and is a hard aluminum alloy.

right.....do a search here before you buy. search wilton. lot of people out there with "moms pewter" that aint. lots of good info in the lead section here. irishtoo.

Also, watch out for armatale. If the item doesn't say pewter (and often when it does) I will flex the item to see if it bends/ flexes

Wilton did at one time make pewter. It's as scarce as hen's teeth. As a general principle I just avoid anything marked pewter.

I won a bid for some pewter plates. Pictures indicated hallmarks and everything. When they arrived I discovered that they were some kids shop project. He had used a pewter plate to make the mold, they are aluminum. I've contacted the seller for a refund. I'm only into this $25, it was for 8 plates. There

It's hard to tell from the pictures. But if it's all Wilton it's not. To me the stuff looks too thick and the handles don't look right.
