I was messing around on the forums this morning and looked out the window across one of my food plots just in time to see a number of large hogs feeding on the far end of the plot. As I came out of the house with my Marlin 375, they had moved into the brush so I headed down the power line right-of-way to try to intercept them. I figured they would cross in the lowest point of land on the ROW so I hunched down and had less than a minute for the first hog to step out. I shot her with the TLC379-235-RF at about 60-yards. Very nice shot in tight behind the shoulder. The hog hit the brush but I could hear it trashing around.
I wasn't high-fiving myself as I knew I had a number of very large hogs at a very close range. The visibility into the brush is very poor and not only could I hear the big hogs "woofing", they were so close I could smell them. As I crouched listening, all of a sudden a very large hog was on me! It appeared at about 5-yards! I shot immediately and knocked it down but another large hog was right behind it also. I levered another round and shot as it knocked me off my feet. I missed it but it was gone as fast as it appeared. I ended up having several others make passes at me but I was able to keep them back by shouting at them.
