The title should have said "Lee Loader" instead of "Lee Reloader".

After thirty years or so, of loading with presses, I ordered a Lee Classic Loader in 30-30. I wanted something I could toss in a small bag, and take camping. Anyway, I didn't like crimping with it. I wanted something positive. Enter the Lee Factory Crimp die. I use it with a mallet, and an old AutoPrime shellholder. It works very well. All it takes is one solid smack with the mallet, and the bullet is nicely crimped in place.

Keep in mind, this only works if the bullet is BELOW the top of the die. I know most of you can figure that out, but there are a few that needed clarification.

3/4" PVC pipe "ring" on top of the die for the tall ones.

Are you talking about a Lee Reloader ("C" press) or a Lee Loader (kit)?

I believe he is referring to the older style whack a mole reloader kit.

Sorry, that should have said Lee Classic Loader. It's the whack-a-mole kit.

... and then using the Lee Factory Crimp die without a press.

Yes. That will actually work as he said since the die works off the shellholder. Interesting idea.

Ever think about the hand held Lee press? Love mine for just this kind of thing.

Not really, I have joint pain in my wrists. I have thought about attaching a small alloy press to a plate of some type, that could be strapped to a tree, at the campsite. I also thought about making a kit that would allow me to use regular dies like the Lee Loader.

It would seem that loaded ammo is easier and more compact to transport than any reloading kit and components.

If you want to experiment at your range or follow up a promising load without going home, this is a good way to do it.
