I got an old rough Marlin 1889 and I am in need of a used stock and butt plate. I would also be interested in a complete set of used wood that matched, my barrel is a 38-40 and round. Thanks!!!

I just learned I can make a 94 stock work also. Thanks
I just tried my 97 stock and it only needs a little work to fit too. So apparently any old Marlin straight stock can be made to fit. Please help!!!

Wish I could help, I got the same response a while back when I was looking for screws and small parts for Kennedy rifle. Good luck! Seek and ye shall find (but it takes time).

Yeah I keep checking ebay and everything I can think of everyday. Id even consider a broken one if all the pieces were there. Its no museum piece, Id just like to shoot it and maybe hunt with it.

I just learned a 94 can be worked a little and will fit. So Id try one of those too!! Thanks

Numrich arms has your lever screw, mainspring, tang screw and a semifinished buttstock. All are currently in stock.

Wisner's also has the mainspring and tang screw in stock. I have used their parts before with satisfaction.

If I remember correctly, Pecatonica River (who sells muzzle loading rifle kits, pre carved stocks, etc.) had some replacement stocks for later rifles in their printed catalog - we just moved and I can't seem to put my fingers on it as it is packed away. They don't list them on their website but I remember them from their catalog - just don't remember if they had any Marlin stocks. You might give them a call and ask and if not, maybe they have something that could be adapted and work? They also sell their "seconds" with blemishes such as unforeseen knots, etc. It would be worth a call and I would suggest a call (rather than email) in order to talk to someone there and explain your needs as far as a stock goes. Their contact info from their website is:

Pecatonica River Long Rifle Supply, Inc.
P. O. Box 2791
Rockford, IL 61132 US
Phone (815) 968-1995
Fax (815) 968-1996
email: sales@longrifles-pr.com

Good luck and hopefully someone will have what you need in order to get the old gal going again.

Jim
