Tried out my new Mihec .402 155gr HP Powder coat mold with penta pins. This was absolutely the best casting session I have ever had. I preheated the brass mold on my hot plate and got my straight COWW alloy up to 730F. Filled all 4 cavities and pushed the spru plate with my thumb, inverted the mold and pushed out the pins, all 4 boolits fell off instantly. Entire session went exactly the same way, the mold rained boolits the entire time. For the first time ever I had no rejects for the entire casting session.

If you have time, you could cast about 15,000 for me. :-P

Gotta love it when the planets and moon align and the sun is at the exact angle. Great looking results.

Nice frosty bullets. Coated look like candies.

I't hard to beat those brass mihec molds, have 14 of them for a reason.

Those are some impressive bullets you cast. Any idea what load/velocities your going to test?

Love those days. Good molds do make it happen more often I believe.

My good sessions are when I don't pour lead in my lap :D

I it when the Zen of Casting falls in place: No phone, good tunes on, the temp is all in place. Next thing you know a stack of 15 lbs of bullets are sitting in a pile. Love it.

I have the 45 version, and had a similar experience. Then I learned that after about 1000 casts the mold badly needed maintenance. Pin shafts sticking, mold face had small splotches of lead on it, and the pin connection to the shaft had rust and wouldn't move. I discovered that those pins need to be slightly loose on the shaft, that the shafts had to be lubed, and the face of the mold cleaned. Now it casts like it used to!

Planning to test mild loads with Clays and heavier loads with AA #7
