Here's the reason why I am interested in these measurement;

I have a super nice model 92 lever. This Miroku made Winchester is perfect in almost every way with the exception of the huge chamber (45Colt). The bore is correct but the oversized chamber is able to allow a .457 inch boolit into a fired case. Chamber is so large that if I size my rifle cases to fit my Colt SAA, Ruger Vaquero as well as the Uberti cartridge conversions, if I shoot them a second or third time the cases split.

So looks like I am going to be able to shake out cash to get a 73 Winchester. I will be looking at the 44 WCF or the 45 Colt chamberings. I will be shopping for other the Miroku Winchester or the Uberti Winchester. So these are the two rifles that I would be interested in the chamber/bore measurements before I lay down my hard earned dollars.

My new 73 in 44-40 chambers and shoots .429 bullets just fine.

Hey Don. Winchester or Uberti? Which boolit do it like? Idealy i also would get the 44 WCF as this is the original chambering. The .429 would sure make life easy.

Winchester. Been casting the 205 gr bullet from the lyman mould from 16-1 alloy. Same bullet works well in my 3rd generation Colt.

great and thanks for the reply Don. been awhile I guess and I miss the old days of bickering with others and general horseplay. amazing how little changes and yet all is new at the same time.

if you were doing it again would you pick the Winchester again? love to see a photo of your '73'. what barrel and the length please. so many to choose from it is dizzying. I really like every Miroku Winny I ever handled so my decision will be narrowed down a bit. as with the Shiloh ... waiting for the real deal should be worth it. I still have the 120 and need to get it out to shoot it again. got a bunch of 500 grn boolits loaded ahead of 110 grain 2 Fg Goex so they should thump pretty goot.

Ted mine is the short rifle. The only real complaint I have on it is the front sight they put on is about 2 times to tall. I replaced it with an ivory blade.

Here's the ivory blade, and a buffalo swinger target shot at 100 yds, offhand using 2f Olde Eynsford.

As to your question about doing it again, yessir I would. I have a Uberti in 32wcf, and the fit , function and feel of the Winchester is head and shoulders above the Uberti. Not to mention I got this Winchester for about 200$ less than a Uberti.

Very fine rifle Don. Looks like a dandy. Thanks for the photo's. I like the ol E myself. I am leaning towards a rifle just like yours , or maybe the full rifle with round barrel ... As much as i like octagon i think the weight would make the full 24 inch rifle handle weird ... Maybe not tho. I am excited to begin my journey into the 44 WCF. Prolly put my 92 up for sale after playin with the 44.

It's not blond, it's a bit darker than the pictures show
