Over the years I have be a regular at a few, mod at a couple.

THEAKFORUM.NET
www.ar15.com

to name a few. A bunch of the ones that I use to read a lot have since closed down and moved on.
The owners passed away or in some cases, the IT people stole the board because they registered the domain in their name and not the owners.
www.theakforum.net used to be www.akforum.net but someone forgot to renew the domain and it was bought up.

I spend a little time at selfsufficientish dot com.
This is UK based and a bit of a greenie forum...but there is a lot of different gardening or foraging ideas/info that you don't hear in the USA. The owner of that site has authored a few books, He used an original recipe of mine (gooseberry-beet wine) in one of his books titled: "Booz for free".

Oh boy, now you did it. Lots of members here have been banned from that site. Start naming a gun forum and I'm most likely a member. Doesn't mean I actively post but I lurk and read. I spend more time on car forums than anything else.

I have been a long time member over at the Slingshot forums.

http://www.theslingshotforum.com/

I am also active over at the Gateway to Airguns.
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org

As cast boolits site is to casting/reloading so GTA is to all things airguns.
Younger crowd over there but some ol farts too. And they know their stuff.

Last I am a member over at Graybeardsoutdoors. Mostly their H&R Centerfire rifles section. They have all the info for all the H&R/NEF Handi rifles. Several here are members both places.

I've been banned from there three times (Low Road). First time, I has having a discussion with Veral Smith about the effects of temperature on cast bullet loads. Good conversation, and I found myself ejected. Next two, pretty much the same circumstances, having a conversation, and whoops, there I go! I was finally clued in to what a ******* the forum owner is, and figured I was better off gone.

Wide range of subject matter is covered in this forum. Yes, it does have a focus on Maryland, just like calguns.net (http://calguns.net) has a California focus. Both are excellent sources.

It's not just the owner. The moderators leave a lot to be desired. What amuses me is how they talk down about this site. There is a bias that's present even if it's not spoken. W/ RCmodel's passing the reloading forum lost a lot of valuable information.

The problem I've run into looking at other firearms forums is that I have become accustomed to the very civil way members conduct themselves here. The vast majority of other forums don't police or filter inappropriate crude vulgar language. Now, I'm not so sensitive that I can't be exposed to it; I just enjoy the absence of hateful and profane conversation. AR-15 and others are full of disagreements that start out with things like "You're a BLEEPING idiot if you think that," often when the person was right and the respondent clueless

It's so much more pleasant and informative here!

Ford F150 Forum (combined with YouTube) has saved me lots of $$$ over the years!

Answered lots of questions for me and told me how to replace the rear axle shafts in my truck which I did last weekend. Took me about 4hrs because I had to seat the axle studs and stop for a beer break. Saved me probably $1,000. Good guys there that will answer all of your questions or point you in the right direction. Like this forum.

This is the only gun forum I'm active on, the rest I run into when I'm searching specific questions. I've found good conversations (that often answer the question I'm googling) at the firing line and the high road and rimfire central. Castboolits has tended to have some even older knowledge and that's why I joined. Rarely with ar15 have I found relevant threads for my inquiries.

I wasn't aware there was some...friction between castboolits and highroad until now. I can't comment on that, just say that I've found the most enlightening threads on intermediate and advanced questions on those 4 sites.

This is by far my favorite but I belong to a few others.

24 Hour Campfire- Mostly un-regulated. Mostly talk about news and current events but it has gun, reloading and hunting forums. It has a huge membership.

Snipershide- Mostly about long range precision shooting. Is not family friendly. Has lots of Military and LE members. Has had a few changes and the latest does not run well on my computer.

The High Road- Mostly about guns and reloading. Has a few knowledgeable members and nice guys but mostly if you don't have 30,000 post your post are subject to be attacked with out having the right to defend yourself.

1911- Family friendly. Mostly about pistols, and mostly about 1911's.

Reloadersnest- A small family friendly forum about, you guessed it, reloading. The last change the site went through lost me. I kind of miss those guys!

Varmintsden- A small family friendly forum about varmint hunting and long range shooting. Their last change lost me and I miss those guys too!

Benchrest Central- A family friendly site about benchrest shooting. The Pros hang out and post one here.

Accurate Shooter, formally 6MM BR.Com- A semi family friendly site about precision and competition shooting.

Treasurenet- A family friendly forum mostly about metal detecting. That have a thread about indian artifacts that is my interest. The Revolutionary War and Civil War threads have lots of interesting looking recovered bullets.

Some of my searches have led me to other sites that look interesting but I have not joined. These include The M-14 Forum, The S&W Forum, the Firingline Forum and The Shooters Forum.

I spend more time here on Castboolits than on all of the others combined!

For those fans of Glen Fryxell, he sometimes posts and has some stickies at www.artfulbullet.com and CE Harris also posts there occasionally. Seems to be a good group of very knowledgeable and serious practitioners of the shooting arts. I've been to all of the forums listed, I think, and have settled in here. It's just the best group I know of on the net, generally. Family friendly, yet has a great deal of knowledge here. Most of the forum's growth has been with folks who are not nearly as experienced and often not as introspective about our sports as some of us old timers, but this provides opportunities to help, if they'll just listen. Some bring big egos here, but ... what else is new on the 'net today???

I'll still pick this forum over any other on the 'net. It's the people here who make this forum what is has traditionally been and become. Not nearly as much ego as many other forums, and clashes are often ceased quickly when folks realize they're out of line. You just can't get a better group of folks than that!

The Shiloh forum is very informative if you are a black powder cartridge shooter. Rough crowd there, though; I'm registered so I can see the pictures, but only lurk. Easy to register and get on, although the operators are running a gun factory and it might take a while to get your password.

Antiquereloadingtools, the ARTCA site, has great info on the loading equipment which is frequently posted here under "Whutizzit?" headings. I think they lifted the stricture that you had to be an ARTCA Member to post. Easy to register.

I'm on the ASSRA site, because I like Single Shot rifles. A lot of very knowledgeable people on there and generally fairly civil. Easy to get on. Primarily Scheutzen competition stuff if you are into that.

I'm a blues freak, who likes to listen to transcriptions of scratchy 78's from the '20's and '30's. Weeniecampbell is a great site for this, offering transcripts of hard to hear lyrics, histories of the players and efforts by the membership to keep the blues alive. Easy to register, and welcoming besides.

I tried to get on the Accurate Reloading Forum, but the password they sent me was rejected, so I gave up. I tried to get on the Great Western Forum, as I have a Single Action frame I want to rebuild, but they told me they had a meeting of the minds, went over my Bona Fides, consulted the Oracles, cast the Runes, and decided that they wouldn't belong to a club that would let me in as a member.

Finally, and not family friendly at all, there is Asrealasitgets, founded by a guy who managed to get himself kicked off 24hrcampfire for rudeness and general unpleasantness, a truly noteworthy achievement. He took his acolytes, housecarls, and fans with him. However, if you can get past the sarcasm, foul language and general lack of manners, the latest&greatest calibers, the highest velocities, the longest yardages, and the best&only Ways are intelligently discussed, and even documented. The outdoor photography goes from way better than me to amazingly good. I lurk there once in a while; never tried to register.

I used to post sometimes on the SASS website, then they had a revision and my password wouldn't work any more, so I just lurk there, rarely. They used to discuss guns a lot more; now it seems to be clothing and other ancillary stuff.

I got on 24hrcampfire, but the password quickly stopped working. Generally I give up on a site when I have to be an IT Guy to figure out how to get on. I'm not an IT Guy. It's a mine of good gun info, though, if you're patient.

But this site is the best for guns and gun stuff. Easy to get on, an incredible level of knowledge, familiar as the corner tavern and comfortable as an old shoe. And the signal-to-noise level between good data and psychodrama is the best on Line.

If any of you guys are woodworkers and run across old woodworking machines and by old, I mean late 19th and early 20th century, and no Chinese machine discussions allowed:-) and need some help restoring, owwm.org is the place to go. I've put back to life several from the 1930s to mid 60s that are serving me well.

You guys have covered the firearms forums well enough. Glock forum is out there, but nothing but waste of time as far as learning anything. Really the ar15.com is the same.
