Ok folks-- I'm sitting here with a gift certificate good for any NOE catalogue mold up to $125.

I have lyman, Ideal and Lee molds, but never tried NOE.

I cast for the following, and generally prefer lower velocities-- below 2000 fps (but I do use gas checks when needed):

M1 Garand
30-30 (Win Model 1894)
32 Winchester Special (Win Model 1894)
223 Remington
38 Special

What NOE mold would YOU buy for one of these??

I too was used to iron molds,50 years worth, then bought an NOE mold for my 47-70. I now have 5 molds. Took awhile to get used to aluminum molds, preheat and cast fast. Pick what you shoot most and order one.
Plan to heat it 3-4 times to get it ready, then cast fast. You will like it!

if you don't have a 38/357 SWC mold yet, I'd recommend the NOE 360-160-SWC

I have that mold, and like it alot. I like the SWC design, ...and that it has 2 crimp grooves for an extra option for a short cylinder.

I like the 225-55 FP a lot ! It's a knock off of the 22-55 RCBS @ 62 gr .
There are so many great 30s . I have the 301618 NRA paper patch bullet and the 30 XCB but I'd like to have the RD 310-165 for game .
He has several 8mm FP and a couple 321s for the 32s specifically .
For a 38 I'd take one of the 130-145 gr SWCs maybe the lighter end and let it double up for a 9mm .

I love the NOE 310-165 ranch dog style in my 30-06 at reduced velocity. Funny, that bullet was designed to kill deer at lead 30-30 velocity, and it does just that!

38 special get the 160 fn or Jon's recomendation of the 158 swc. 30-30 gets the ranch dog copy 165 gr. I am crazy enough to like the RG series.

If you want a bullet for hunting, you could scarcely do better.

Lots of great suggestions-- it will help me decide.

Harter66-- It's funny you should mention the 225-55 FP-- because There is only one firearm in my small collection that I don't have at least two molds for-- and that's my 223 remington (only have one mold for it).

That's the bullet my granddaughter was burning up in the 222 last weekend . 19 gr of H322 , 2640 fps should wreck a critter rather handily .

For the 38 Special, I'd go with the H&G 51 copy.

30-30, I'd pick the long favored copy of Lymans 311041.

Good luck and enjoy your new mold. I have 5-6 NOE molds and everyone of them is a pleasure to cast with.

If you powdercoat you should take a look at this group buy going on for a mold that should be perfect for the 30-30 - http://noebulletmolds.com/smf/index.php/topic,2081.0.html

For the 38 special get the NOE 360 - 160 - WC 360432 . This is an improved version of the discontinued Lyman #358432. This is an accuracy sleeper. All of my 38's and 357 magnum shoot this bullet the best . At 25 yards , 10 shots will group into 1 3/8's inch (one big ragged hole) with 2.8 grains of Bullseye. This boolit and 5.5 grains of Accurate #5 is almost as accurate with 1 3/4 inch 10 shot groups .
I like this design a LOT !

Let me warn you ...after you buy and use the first one....you will want another ...trust me on this.

I have yet to shoot cast in a Garand, but I've dubbed the 311291 my "Accuracy Without Effort" Bullet. I would check some measurements to make sure you won't run into magazine length issues, but otherwise, I've seen this profile to be very accurate across multiple bolt action milsurp guns, from both NOE and original Lyman molds, in both the .311 and .314 variants.

For the Win32 SPL get the SC323-180-RF GC. I loaded a 100 this morning.
