Looking at the case and considering light loads of Bullseye with cast I am thinking small pistol primers - comments? For jacketed loads do you all suggest small rifle or small pistol primers?

Definitely small rifle primers for jacketed, as the Fireball is a high pressure round.

I have used 205M and 7 1/2 and can't tell much difference in accuracy between the two. So I have gone to the 7 1/2 now.

I would use small rifle primers only in an XP-100. That's a serious fast firing pin that will probably pierce SP primers.

Small pistol primers are what I would use. They worked just fine in my 222 and 223 Rems with Bullseye/cast loads. Should be the cat's meow with the 221 also.

Larry,

Thank you. It is about how I am looking at it using Bullseye for light cast loads. I know people prefer small pistol primers for the Hornet and just looking at the 221 it doesn't seem that much different. What would you use for jacketed loads moving downrange quickly?
