I'm with tmt with this one, it's a little to slow although the new Lee book lists one load
with BD but it is with a 180gr XTP. There no cast loads listed.

I use it on 10mm with great results. 220 cast with a near max load. I would thimk it would work fine in 40 short and weak.

I use it with the Lee 180 TC boolit for Action Pistol.
No leading. No unburned powder....dale

While Lee may not list Blue Dot with cast, there is sufficient data in the Lyman 49th and the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 4th edition. It is toward the slow end of the powder range.

If you look in the older Alliant or Hercules powder manuals, those before all these new powders and online guides became available, there used to be data for 40 S&W using Bullseye, Red Dot, Green Dot, Select, Unique, Herco, and Blue Dot.

I recall the data guides having bullet weights of 155, 165, and 180. They might have even listed 135 and 200. I'd have to go find my old data manuals to make sure..

The Layman 4th Ed. CB Handbook list's a Blue Dot load for every 40 SW boolit they show.

I've had very good results with Blue Dot in the 40 S&W. Using both the Lee 401-175-TC and the NOE 402-180-RN. My lowest load is 7.4 and top load is 8gr. Blue Dot. Work up. Gp

I have used up a pound of Blue Dot in in the 40 S&W under a MP 402-190 (using the large pins it come out at about 185 grains) Shoots great, I just do not like the way it meters from my RCBS Uniflow, and have converted to HS6.
