I have a pile of factory scope covers that come with the scopes in the boxes.
The elastic cord that holds them on just dies after about a year just setting in the gun cabinet????
Does any one have anything to replace these with, the elastic i mean ?
I tried rubber bands and they aren't any good any more either.

Take a look at your local Walmart or craft store in the beads section. They sell a round elastic string to make bracelets with that I have used to replace worn out scope strings.

The local army surplus usually has all sizes of elastic cord in bulk rolls. Try them.

I have a pair that's on my Burris, when the rubber finally gave up the ghost I got me some 1/8" bungee cord and replaced it, worked like a charm, I found the bungee cord at the local surplus store that also sells the 500 para-cord.
you'll need to stretch it a bit to get it to go into the cap slots.
