Greetings CB Brothers,

Im down to about a pound and a half of Unique but have an 8 pound jug of HS6 ready to pick up the slack.

Was wondering if the guys who have had successes or failures with this powder/ caliber combination. I have molds heavy to light for 44 and 357.

I'm looking for pistol and rifle loads.

I use, and like, HS-6 in 44 Mag. I use it for midrange loads.

Using Lee TL430-240SWC in a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter.
10g. HS6 - 947 fps
10.5g HS6 - 1000 fps
11.5g HS6 - 1125 fps

Standard Deviation (SD) are low 2-digit, usually under 15fps. I use 45/45/10 (Recluse lube), or more recently BLL.

The 10g load is somewhat sooty, I rarely use it. The other two loads are very accurate - 1.5" 6 shot groups @ 25yds.

Hodgdon #25 calls for 10-12g with a jacketed 240g bullet. Try HS6, you will like it.

Excellent for .357 on the hotter end of the range; reminds me of Herco in some ways. It gets cleaner and more consistent as the loads get heavier. Definitely not for cowboy action shooting, this is great to have around for real magnum loads. Published loads perform very close to advertised (which is rare!)

As has been said. it works best when at the upper end of it's pressure range. I have not used it in the 357, but 10.5 grains under a 429-421 is a dandy combination. It is very accurate from a Ruger SBH hunter.

I use HS-6 with 358429 in the 357, but absolutely love it in my flattop 44 Spl. It has become my go to powder in the Spl with all bullet weights.

Lee TL356-124-TC over 11 grains HS-6 for 357 mag (extrapolated from Lyman data). Has been awesome out of my 3" SP101. I've used it for heavier weights also but that is my go to load right now. Don't have a 44 but it does great in my 45 Colt also. HS-6 has quickly become my favorite powder.
