Dang. This Enfield shoots like a champ, but I need a sight pusher for the front sight. Anyone out here have one they would like to get rid of?

On my 1917, I used a piece of scrap wood that happened to be flat on one side and match the curve of the side of the front sight to rest the front sight on.

A brass punch and small hammer was used to move the sight back into alignment with the witness mark.

Buy an AK/SKS style front sight adjustment tool from Brownells or Midway. They are pretty cheap. You'll need to widen it just a bit with a file -- its just a 30-minute job and you'll have a front sight tool that fits the '17 perfectly.

I bought, filed and use the SKS front sight tool for moving the front sight on my 1917 rifles and it works perfectly. LLS

Outstanding! I plan on taking the 1917 to the range tomorrow and try some loads - -291 boolit @ 176 gr & 16 gr 2400, plus a few more exotic. I will get with either Brownell's or Midway tomorrow!

Thanks again.

I fitted mine with a fully adjustable Parker Hale 5B range sight that fits neatly between the action "ears". Just bought another Winchester P14 303 with the same sights.

Just ideal for shooting cast at all ranges.

Wow, BAW, that looks neat. I may have to go that way - my gun has been glass bedded, and I understand tht disqualifies it for the special GI bolt-action matches some clubs sponsor.

A simple press of a button on the LHS and the target peep simply removes and the normal ladder comes into play. This feature makes it legal for the "standard" matches then you replace the peep for the "modified" matches.

The only thing is that you have to machine off the small battle peep so that the target peep will fit between the ears.

Great link BAW. I don't imagine one just saunters down to the local gun shop and buys any of those sights!

I have a couple of PH5B's also, top notch piece of gear.

This one is a bit different. It's the only one I have ever seen, and research indicates it was an experimental sight that was developed (but not adopted or produced) for the 1918 National Matches. The M1917 was the prescribed rifle for the 1918 matches. The sight is click adjustable for windage and elevation. You can make windage changes without removing your hand from the stock: just reach up with the thumb of the shooting hand and turn the little whiz-wheel on the right side of the carrier.
