View Full Version : Request for a Clear Field....

I'm intending to bid on an Ebay mould. It's a 4-cavity 311466 and I expect the price to go to high altitude. It would be much appreciated if y'all could leave the field free for me (unless you just can't STAND to go without bidding).

If I win this one, there'll be a very nice TWO-cavity 311466 for sale here, if that's any consolation.

Thanks in advance.

I don't want it, so you can have it. I may be interested in your two cavity mold if you get the 4 Cavity Mold.

Good Luck

Jerry

May we ask the item number so as we can ONLY watch it?

Thank you all, gents.

Yep, I did "win" it...if you can say that agreeing to pay more than anyone else can tolerate is "winning".

In fact, I must have made a pretty well-educated guess at what sort of moola would be needed to get my grabbers on this one. At the time I placed my ONLY bid, the mould had reached about $54 as I recall.

After considerable thought (how badly do I want this thing, REALLY?) and recollection of where other out-of-production 4-cavs had sold, I made my (choke) bid.....$155.89. That $54 price INSTANTLY changed to $149.99, meaning that someone else had made an "automatic" bid to escalate as-needed to a max figure of around $148, so my guesstimate was very close to correct. I also think that the $149 figure discouraged a lot of other potential bidders, as there was no traffic after my own entry.

So, I now have a two-cavity Lyman 311466 in excellent shape which is surplus to my needs. It was NIB when I bought it a couple years ago, and on inspecting it today I found nothing at all wrong with it. Beautiful condition! If anyone is willing to send me fifty bucks for it, I'll pay shipping.

I believe this is a bit below "market value " for such a well-liked and discontinued design. The base bands cast at around .313" in my WW, so it can have wide application in the various .30 cartridges. Weight is 152 grains in the WW alloy I use, and both weight and diameter are very consistent between the cavities.

Anyone??

BruceB. :Yes,it looks like Jerry has first call option... ..(I think the $149.99 was Alex' reserve price,as my last did not meet reserve, and was more than the $54.00 being shown when you bid.,although I was high bid @the time)...Oncebull
