Do you use a gas check on this bullet? for 300 blk loads ?

Hmm. I'll subscribe to this thread to see what those with experience say. I know that it is sometimes possible to use a gas checked designed boolit without a gas check. Other than that, I would use a gas check if the boolit is designed for it. If you want to NOT use gas checks, get a mold for a boolit without the gas check. Don't make it harder for yourself than you have to.

However, I am always willing to listen to someone that can make something work.

For subsonic, no I don't.

I have shot them both ways. With the gas check I used Carnuba Red lube and on the other one without gas check I used LLA +JPW mix. Although the gas checked bullet shot just fine I didn't see any advantage in accuracy and the bullet with out gas check is just easier to lube and shoot as I don't size them. This bullet comes out of my mold at .309" and I would have liked it better if they were larger however they shot just fine.

I have read that this bullet was actually designed as a none gas check bullet.

I have pressed on and sized on gas checks to the "boat tail" base of the Lee Phonograph needle in an attempt to get better accuracy. While slightly supersonic loads were marginally more accurate with the Gas Check, I also got a few major fliers to which I credit checks coming off in flight or possibly not on straight. Overall, I pretty much gave up on this boolit. I had Veral Smith of LBT make a 235 grain .310 SP design mould with gas check and a proper .303" nose-ride portion. That boolit gives excellent accuracy from 950 to 1400 fps out of my .300Blackout 1 turn in 8" and my .300/221 MGM Encore with 1 in 7" twist.
