Just got back from a relo bash around New South Wales and found a parcell waiting for me when I got home. It was my new Montana Vintage Arms Soule sight. I put it straight onto the Uberti Hiwall and it looks fantastic. I am really happy with it, I was hoping to get to the range tomorrow, but I have not been able to call either of the club Range Officers so I don't know if I will ba able to go and try it out. HOW FRUSTRATING IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:veryconfu

A new toy and you can't go play? That ain't frustrating.....it's just cruel. MVA sure makes a nice sight huh?

Worthless without pictures..:drinks:

Next year I'm going to try and get a taller rear sight for my sharps I think. Something that will allow me to brush from the breach end.

Well, I was right, nobody else went to the range today, leaving me sitting at home cleaning brass and playing with my other new aquisition, Redding T-7, it is so much faster that my old single stage press it just boggles my little mind. Not as quick as I can do 38 Specials on my 550, but for BPCR, this T-7 is great.

Wonderwolf, I will try and post a photo of the sight and rifle, but I have to warn you, the rifle is a little naked at the moment, I am intending on browning the barrel (I had a Green Mountain barrel fitted to replace the slow twist Uberti barrel), but I have not got around to it yet (I have no shed and working on guns in an open carport facing into the street could draw attention that I don't want). As to the rear sigt getting in the way when you swab the barrel, the previous sight I had on this rifle was a Pedersolli Creedmore, and I banged my knuckles on that more than I care to remember. The MVA Long Range Buffalo Soule that I just fitted is about .500" taller than the Pedersolli, and it folds down flatter, leaving heaps of room to get a rod past the sight and still have skin on my knuckles. I also got a Hadley Style eye cup, the standard, not the big one, and I am going to have to try this new rear sight setup soon or it will drive me mad.

this one is from the rear, shows just how much clearance there is over the top of the sight when it is folded down.

DAMN; that has to be painful mate. I don't have that problem as all members of my club have a key to the range; open 24/7.

I know all about the knuckle thing with tang rear sights; have scars to prove it.

Your wait will be worth it.

John.

I have that one on my Uberti High Wall and I am very happy with it.

I like Shaver's replacement insert set for the Lyman 17 globe front sight too. Much finer circles than the stock Lyman inserts.

Big John, I just got keys for the range (they didn't have any spares when I joined and we had to wait for them to get cut). Unfortunately, the rifle range is currently water logged and driving down there will rip up the tracks. The only other problem is that you can't go to the range alone, you must have someone with you (I think that it is a boogey man thing), so I guess that my wife will be getting dragged out there alot.

ktw, PICTURES OF SIGHT AND RIFLE, they made me put them up so I think it only fair for you to put yours up as well. Sights and gun both.

Mine is the shorter midrange soule with the optional hadley eye cup. Sight is currently set for 200 yards with my primary smokeless load (275gr PP@ 1780 fps) which also happens to be very close to 100 yard zero for the 250gr Lee @1450 fps.

I wanted to buy a Shaver economy-grade but I already owned a Pedersoli Hadley eyecup, so I didn't really want to spend money on a second one.

After a few emails to figure out possibilities, I proposed a modification that would use my Pedersoli on his sight. He agreed, and charged me ten bucks for shortening the tube on my eyepiece, cutting 12-40 threads on the short shank, and tapping the sight to match.

I have several of the Pedersoli sights that I got cheap. You can tell they were designed by someone that didn't know squat about a BPCR.
