OK guys I have upgraded the BPM Hand Press with the Hornady Lock-N-Load Quick Change Die System.

The press is identical to the original except for the top plate which contains the L-N-L conversion bushing.

Each Press comes with one Die Bushing so it can be used like the Original Version if you choose. Die Bushings are available from virtually every source for reloading tools. Hornady, Cabela's, Midway, Mid-South, etc.

This speeds up die changes and makes it so you can do short or even longer runs of ammo much faster.

It also eliminates Die Adjustments everytime you put the die back in the press. Once set,,, it's done. Great for Lee Die users where the lock nuts move around with each removal from the press.

Serial Numbers for the First Run are from #101 to #125.

So they are in stock and ready for shipment at www.buchananprecisionmachine.com (http://www.buchananprecisionmachine.com/)

Looking good, Randy. Since I cannot imagine tricking up all my dies with those devices I'll stick with the old fashioned screw in.

Wayne: You could always just set up the dies you were going to use that day and then you'd only need 2-3 more bushings.

I have been using my prototype for about 3 months now and the tool is really a joy to use.

this is a 5 year old design that pinches your fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huntington die made these and they were made by another guy that sold it to huntington.........kind of like re-inventing the wheel but the pinching has not been resolved!

Owning both HDS W press and Randy's press - I can tell you there is a difference and less chance of pinching fingers than with HDS style. But then I only had to pinch my finger once to learn on my HDS. Oh, and I bought my HDS back in the 80's so way more than 5 years old.

Randy has never said it was a new design. He said from the start it's an updated design. Somehow I haven't pinched my fingers yet. I guess I'm doing something wrong because I know how to hold the press to prevent it. But some people need to be saved from themselves.

Randy, I've never used them but then I'd be screwing adapters on dies instead of dies into presses?? I'm not sure I see the gain, at least not for the added price. I use a Hollywood Sr, a Bair Brown Bair, and a Bair single stage. Not sure any compatabiity there, either.

Wayne: Probably not on the compatibility. Seldom will dies adjusted for one press be set right for another press,,, even of the same brand. The gain is not in the screwing the dies into the bushing part,,, it is in the changing the dies while loading part.

Winschester 71 This is a 1 year old design and if you learn how to use it you won't have that problem. It is pretty simple actually and is explained in the instructions.

When I brought this out a year ago I stated very plainly that it was an re-design of the Decker Hand Press sold by HDS. They stopped making it about 10 years ago.

My tool bares very little resemblance to the HDS tool and all you have to do is put them side by side to see it.

Art could put up pics of the two side by side. Then everybody could see the differences,,, and there are plenty.

I forgot to mention earlier that the Serial Numbers for this run is from #101 to #125.

Wayne,

With all of those presses I can see you might not want to use the Hornady system since you would need 1-1/4" threads in the presses.

The real benefit is that the only time I have to adjust a die is if I change bullets or seating depth. All of my frequently used single stage tools have L-N-L die bushings on them and they remain permanently adjusted. That includes the RCBS bullet puller, Lee hardness tester, universal decapping die and reloading dies. In some instances I even have separate seating dies in their own L-N-L adapters if I use multiple bullets for a single cartridge. My job keeps me away from home all week so I really appreciate the time saved not having to set up and adjust every time I want to load a few rounds.

Randy, in your other thread I put up pics of the two side by side, and with a 30-06 case in a shell holder in each. Should be easy to find. Feel free to re-post them, and keep them for future use if you want.

Great, I have been wondering why no one came out with a portable press yet that you can use with the LNL bushings so I am very happy to see this.

I want one of these presses, although I don't need it. I want one anyway because I like precisely made equipment. Where else would a man find a hand made press using premium quality parts? I have no kids and thus no grandchildren, but if I did, I can't think of a better gift that they could pass down to others.

Good Idea! Hopefully others will pass theirs down to their kids and such. There are more available!
