I have acquired an RCBS 9mm mold that drops a 125 gr RN bullet. It is not plain-base but rather a gas check design. My question is this: If I use it without gas checks, will it behave like a bevel-base, boat tail, or will it be all over the place?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I have one..it's quite accurate w/ a GC. At close range it shoots fairly accurate without a GC.

I have never tried that in my 9mm. It works fine in my 38 special though.

Depends. I have a 158gr NOE 357 mold, GC. There was not enough bearing surface without the gas check in a 9mm. Were all over the place, gas check they are fine.

It will shoot ok without a gas check but with the gas check it is a fine little bullet. It is one of my best molds.

What is "ok" ? What kind of groups should it hold at 25 yards? I should add a few details:

I size them .357". That is what my Glocks prefer.
The alloy is clip-on WW with 2% tin added.
Water-quenched.
Pushed with 3.7 gr of 231 for about 900fps.
Lubed with Carnuba Red.

The above has worked well over the years using a plain-base bullet.
