What is the case capicity at the top and bottom groove using a GS lee 310g bullet loaded in a 44 mag filled with h110/w296?(same powder) My Lyman book says to work up to 19.5g which I will do and check for pressure signs as usual. There seems to be a lot of posters that have good luck with charges from 20g-22.5g.

Ya know this really isn't a boolit lube question?

You might want to recheck that data again.. 22.5gr is well in excess of max recommended loading.

Hodgdon data for a 300gr XTP bullet @ 1.600" which is crimped in the upper groove lists:

H110
Bullet diameter .430"
COA: 1.600"
Starting 18.0 1,266 fps 35,100 CUP
Maximum 19.0 1,325 fps 38,800 CUP

For a 325gr LFN GC (Which is very close to the 310 Lee once it is checked and lubed)

H110
Bullet diameter .430"
COA: 1.730" (My COA for this boolit crimped in the LOWER groove, is only 1.700" which would indicate lowering the recommended charge weights to avoid an over pressure event.)
Starting 20.0 1,264 fps 30,800 CUP
Maximum 22.0 1,368 fps 38,100 CUP

Crimped in the lower groove with 1.700" COA your maximum charge should be less than 22.0gr H110.

What's your seating depth? With a GC my Lee 310 bullets are .851" long which puts the top groove at around .525" seating depth. QuickLoad shows the useable case capacity at 20.313 gr with a 100% density load of H110 at 20.1gr at 34,288 psi with a 1.6" col.

QL says 23.5grains of H2O no check

22g of h110 fits with room for more loaded at 1.610". I am working up from recommend starting loads of 17.5g in half grain increments to this point. If there are any signs of pressure working my way up I will be pulling bullets. I have read dozens of posts that 21.5g is the normal accurate hot load for this bullet out of my 77/44.
