Bought 3 giganto turkey legs at a butcher shop Friday . Weighed a hair over 6 pounds , average out at 2 pounds apiece .

Brine them in a ziplock for 24 hours . Washed em , rubbed with salt , pepper and KC Masterpiece dry rub .

Cooked em two and a half hours starting at 350 degrees slowly turning down to 300 .
Reached 200 degrees minutes .

Dang ! Don't give me any ideas ! I like mountain oysters , like calf fries better though . lol

Cookin the legs saw bout 15 geese and 30 goslings ( big ones) come up to the back fence grazing . Tried to ease the back door open to take a picture . One chirped and they all squatted down in the grass . There is about 30 geese in this picture but you can't see em , lol .

I love tossing them on the smoker, skin is usually a bit tough to chew but so tasty!

I agree Mary but the dang wind has been about 25 mph gusting up to 30 . Didn't feel like fighting it so just roasted , baked and broiled . Smoke is better though !

Man those look great! I have made them a few times, but the best smoked turkey leg I've ever had was at Memphis in May in 2000.

They must have been some good smoked turkey legs......that was 17 years ago and you're still thinking about them and remember the month and year . Is the place still in business ? I have been known to visit Memphis and BBQ joints usually get visited.
The BBQ Bologna sandwich and peanut butter pie at Central BBQ is a favorite of mine....but I don't believe they have turkey legs...where dey at ?

Boaz, are you sure those weren't ostritch legs??? One leg would be more than a meal for me these days! But I'd give a good colllege try at eating the whole thing! I bet I could do it! Especially the way you cooked them!

Ha! Memphis in May is a yearly music festival. There was a vendor there with a Huge smoker made from one of those extra long propane tanks, and it was packed full of turkey legs wrapped in foil. Man, were they good.

2000 is the only year I have been to MIM. It's a lot of fun,, but an expensive long weekend.

where'd you get a 3 legged tirkey?

mozeppa I'm glad you asked . They were developed by the Narsageakunk Indian tribe In Stephens county Oklahoma . They have two legs at birth and grow just like a regular turkey Till their about a year old . At that time they start growing another leg on their butt . In time they start walking tripedely . Scientifically proven to be the fastest turkey in existence according to a $10,000,000 study done by the federal government . Clocked at running speeds over 50 mph .
