Have a line on one. Almost NIB. I would call it 99%+. Understand they made 500 of them. What is a fair price for one? Thanks

I have no idea whatsoever with regard to this gun specifically. Supply and demand like everything else of course. Rarity and condition are obvious. That said, generally speaking, anything "made" to be collectible, is not. Just my two bits. S2

Many years ago I had a chance to buy a John Marlin commemorative model 39 for 90 bucks. It had a beautiful 20 inch octagon barrel but it also had a stupid brass coin stuck on the side of the receiver and that's what turned me off. I do wish I had bought it because of the barrel. I later bought the regular 39 and I still have it. I dislike commemoratives.

I'm not sure on the number produced--I seem to recall that 5,000 were made back just before the turn onf the century (2000-2001, not 1900-1901). The only one I've ever seen for sale had an asking price of $600 back around 2009. Given that a plain jane 39a costs 400-500 these days, maybe a bit more if there is a box and manual, I'd consider that a low ball, but fair number.

Be sure of the year of production.

They made 500 in 1998 then made 2,000 more in the year 2,000.

There were 100 extra rifles made in 98 available only to Marlin employees. So total production was 2,600 rifles.

.

The last Annie Oakley commemorative I've seen sold was a few years ago, when it changed hands for $800.

There are a few F/S online now, from $1K to $1500 - So, IMHO it's an unreasonable expectation to pay much less than $800-$1K for one TODAY.

If the one you have a line on is priced @ that level, or less, IME it's worth every penny, and more.
