Has anyone heard of a 'floating expander pin' for the resizing die? I was on another web site, and someone had mentioned that a floating resize pin would self center into the neck when withdrawing the case from the resizing die. It supposed to help with concentricity by not allowing the pin to be offset with the neck of the case.

Place a o-ring between the locking nut on the expander and the die top. Snug the lock nut to the o-ring- not screw it hard. Then you have a floating expander.

Thanks, I have never heard about this before. Anyone ever try it?

yes and it does help

remember to raise the expander ball up so that it begins to enter the neck while most of the neck is still in the neck sizing portion of the die

you will likely have to decap in a separate operation.

I think the Forester dies already have the expander ball high on the stem, but I don't currently own any Forester dies.
