I have a standard version of the Ruger 10/22 carbine. I want to attach an old Weaver scope that I have, with weaver mounts. When I attach the mounts to the supplied mounting rail, the scope hits the folded down rear sight.

My question is: Which direction do I push the rear sight to remove it, if I am looking at the sight from the rear of the rifle?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Always push to the right as you're looking as though aiming. Goes back in the same way. Most cuts for sights are tapered so that the sight gets tighter as it enters to keep it in place. Same with the front sight if dove tailed.

I've never drifted one out. I just buy a taller set of rings.Sounds like you may have low profile rings.

Out= left to right. In = right to left. As veiwed from the back of the barrel. Use a brass punch to avoide scoreing the barrel if it slips. (and it will)

Could you remove the sight from the base leaving the base in the rifle. I would opt for a taller set of rings if possible though. Or a slightly thicker base on the rifle.
