I got my first MP-Mold in the mail today. Looking forward to cleaning it up and getting the pot fired up. First time casting with a HP mold. I have never attached pictures so I hope this works.193718 MP 432-256 starting with the big pins first.

To help you out, pay attention to the requirement to heat cycle that mold 3-4 times after cleaning before putting the ladle to it. Once it develops a patina, it'll release boolits alot easier. Also, coat the slide pins and HP pins with pencil lead as a lube/release agent.

As others have said make sure to heat cycle it. Otherwise if your alloy has any tin you can tin the mold blocks. Ask me how I know about that one ;) The blocks should be a dull dark gold, not shiny and bright like when you got it. And if you don't have a hot plate get one. The mold will want to be run hot. If not you will have lots of sticking bullets and imperfections around the HP nose.

Thanks for the advice. I do have a hot plate to heat my mold to temp before casting. That is one of the first things I learned from here.

I've used the hot plate for some time now and it makes a difference...but...when I made this simple little enclosure, 'garage' it really made a difference.
I can measure the heat level at a glance with this cheap oven thermometer. Before, I used the hand held electronic version of Harbor Freights thermometer...it would measure differently at every point I pointed it at, frustrating and which measurement do I believe?
Now with this simple rig when the thermometer reads 350-400*F. my mould is ready to go on first pour most of the time.
This isn't my idea, someone posted about these tin cans some time ago...it just took me a while to actually try it...glad I did.

I want to build a rig like that badly, but haven't seen a tin coffee can in years.
Really nice set up OS.

My son has an old coffee can that we put all of our change in and he gets to roll it up and spend it. Guess he will
have to find another piggy bank now.

You almost hate to pour that nasty, hot lead into something that purdy !!!!

But, you do, and you get great looking boolets !

Try a #10 can, bulk purchase of tomato sauce or other vegetable. It's similar to a coffee can.

Try stopping behind a restaurant or two next time out and about...they use tin cans and put them in the dumpster. Back in my contracting days I used to keep an eye on the dumpsters behind my shop, you wouldn't believe the things you'll find there...yes, I'm guilty...Ima dumpster diver!
Don't neglect using an old skill saw blade to cover the exposed heat coils, you don't want your mould in contact with those.

Mexican restaurants are a sure thing for cans.

Thanks ChuckO, I never thought of that. Looks like I'm going to be making lots of lasagna.

You can click and change the E-Shop currency to US so you know the price in US dollars. At check out I used a credit card as I don't do paypal. It was a very seamless transaction.
