I finally got the chance to shoot these .492-450 Grain Buffalo Arms Paper Patch 'cupped base' bullets, i decided to shoot them at 50 Yards to see if they had potential? When i shoot a 5 shot group i alway shoot an extra one as my first shot (so im actually shooting 6 shots) i never put my first shot on the paper, i just burn it into the sand bank, then swab good, load, and start my 5 shot group. But this morning i thought about it and decided to put my first 'clean bore' shot on paper and see if it made any difference? It did slightly, it was low, then i shot the other 5, these bullets seem to shoot good in my Rifle, a little bit of tweaking and i think these would shoot REALLY good. This was 70 Grains of Swiss 3F, .060 thou Vegetable Fibre over powder wad, 2 wraps of 9# onion skin paper, and pushed through my .499 sizing die.

I think a 450grn bullet is the perfect length in our LRH barrels. Great looking target!

I fully agree! These shorter 450s flat @ss smoked the longer 550s in my 1:28 Twist, i agree with bullet length to twist ratio to a degree, but i think it pertains more to a lot longer ranges than most of us will ever shoot a sidelock Muzzleloader. I will be stretching my .45 out to possibly 500 yards if i can see the target well enough? I think the .444-400s will do just fine at that distance if i can do my part
