I took (6) old 98 Mauser cleaning rods and ground down the threaded end for an inch from 0.205" to 0.198" diameter to fit into the chrono holes.
I used a tapered punch and hammer and opened the cleaning patch slots in the rods to 0.205" .
I taped some butcher paper on top.
I cleaned the opto diodes with a Q-tip and alcohol.
Now it works again.

Great work! Chronos can be VERY light sensitive, and seem to depend on dispersed light for good, consistent readings. My Pact 1 and all other cheaper chronos I've had experience with seem to need good brightness to function well. As the light starts to dim at the end of the day, they quit reading at all. I'm just glad we have cheap access to units that WILL work most of the time! A chrono is a VERY useful "tattletale" when it comes to revealing things about the ballistics of one's loads! I won't ever be without one again!
