Forster has upgraded the shellholder jaws plate so the springs don't go flying into infinity. I know there is an aftermarket one available but this upgrade is made by Forster.

Why does this post look faded and dark ? Can't read it on my phone. Every once in awhile they come in like this. Thoughts?

My Co-Ax came with the thin "shim" between the jaw/spring holder. After the screws are removed the shim, jaws, and top plate are removed together so the spring stays in place until the unit is over a bench to catch those itty bitty, hardly visible wee springs. Is this what you're talking about?

What you are describing is the old style. This new jaw holder actually now has a way to retain the the springs. I've ordered it but it won't ship till tomorrow according to the lady I spoke to at Forster, so I haven't seen it yet.

OK, it took a bit of searching but I found the "new" shell holder housing where the springs are enclosed. If I drop another spring I'm gonna "spring" for one...:groner:

Here is a pic that Scott, a Forster rep, sent me.

I've not yet used my Co-Ax press. Not usually a problem for me and small parts, but what do you folks think? Is it really frustrating that these are so loose and small that it's worth the improvement?

Also, is the improvement simply as the pic shows, pins with set screws?

How much are they asking for the new style?

If you're fine with fiddly bits, it's certainly not a necessity. Even less so if you never/rarely need to change the shellholder jaws.

I bought the manzgear version some time ago, with no regrets, but I like to do what I can to counter murphy's law.

Since I size a lot of bullets with mine I use the std shell holder adaptor so going back and forth is where the newer style would be helpful to me.

The pic I saw is different than the one daboone posted. I saw Bench Rest Tactical's plate that enclosed the whole spring and costs $69.00. daboone, do you have a link? I couldn't find the piece on the Forster site...

If you modding to update, in-line fab has nice ideas.

Sizing bullets? How are you doing this? The Yoke limit doing any push thru I'm aware of.

Doing it without the catch container, OK you win!;) Just a bit less convenient. I do my bullet sizing on a 550b and keep the catch container, guess I'm just lazy.:p

I think most do ...I just hate the thing, not sure why but to me it is more trouble than it is worth.

If you modding to update, in-line fab has nice ideas. Inline doesn't have anything dealing with shell holder jaws, plates or springs. Only 5 or 6 accessories...
