I am loading cast in a 300 blackout. What do you use to flare the necks to accept cast bullets and not shave them?

Loading a 3006, I just use the Lee universal flaring die. It just helps the mouth, but that is enough to start the boolit straight without shaving.

I use the Lee flaring die. I then seat the bullers and crimp using the Lee factory crimp die.

I understand the need for a "flaring die" to flare the case mouth once proper case neck tension has been dealt with, but the crimp die makes no sense to me.

Made my own out of an old RCBS .44 expander die. Made a tapered end out of brass to flare my 30-30 brass. I made it from brass, yeah brass and it works fine, no wear on it at all. But the Lee universal should do it. I needed it, like right now, didn't want to send and wait along with postage. 15 minutes on the lathe was all.

Lyman M Dies are available and the 30 short works great for the 300 Blackout.

Lee flare die with NOE inserts. All of my rifle calibers have an insert for them and it only takes a little adjustment. Also use it for the Tokarev as the Lee expander in the die set likes to eat brass.

+3 on the Lyman M die expander plug... or the RCBS "Cowboy" expander plug (if it's available in .30 caliber).
I use the "M" die expander plug, or the RCBS "Cowboy" expander plug (they fit the "M" die), or something reduced in diameter from the next size larger, for any cast boolit. I prefer my expander(s) to be .001-.002 inch under actual boolit diameter.

I use the RCBS neck expander die and use the appropriate plugs. I have 30 cal and 223 cal. These I use only for lead boolits. As for jacketed bullets I just run them in without expansion I have the Lee Factory Crimp dies that come with the die set, but usually do not use them for rifle rounds. I use the bullet seating die to return the neck to the proper size.

The collect type Lee Crimp die can be adjusted to just take the flair out of the case neck without crimping. I should have been more specific in my post.

A black powder shooter friend of mine told me that a lot of guys leave that flare in. It helps center the cartridge better and could lead to better accuracy. Me, well I say one less step, if it functions in my ar, its GTG.

+1 for Lee flare die and Noe inserts. Also I use the old C&H/Herders seating dies which gives almost perfect alignment between bullet and case. With slightly flared case I do not even have to expand case mouth-only needed for controling neck tension.
