I just scored a nice deal on a Buffalo Classic to add to my collection. I plan on using longer and heavier bullets with it and throat is cut too short if any exists at all. Does anyone have experience with reaming the throat a little bit forward to accommodate the 535gr pills?

Is this more of a gunsmith's job or can one do it by themselves? If leaning towards the former, can anyone recommend a competent gunsmith in Northern IL? PM is fine.

Haven't worked with one of those, but re-cutting a throat is a simple job that most anyone can do. Rent or purchase a reamer, read how to do it, and git er done. Main thing is to go slow and straight. Mount the barrel vertical in a vise, use a T-handle and oil, cut a little and check. Cleaning and checking it will take a lot longer than cutting it.
