Have a 44 mag rifle with a 22" barrel and a 1:20 twist.

Looking for accurate subsonic loads.

Have tried a few charges of Trailboss, 5.5 is definitely below the crack but accuracy isn't great- about 3" @ 50 yards.

Interestingly enough I put the target on a big cardboard box and then placed another cardboard box about 5 yards behind it. Boolit holes in and out of each were perfectly round so tumbling doesn't seem to be an issue.

I currently have Trailboss and IMR4227 but open to anything.

Thanks, Matt.

I would go back and try Unique, HS6 or AA#5. I think Unique will hold the best standard deviations at the low end of the spectrum and keep you under 1050.

If youre dealing with a Handi Rifle...slug it. Your bullets may not be big enough.

Good tip thanks.

It's not a handi bit similar. Have fired WW whitebox 240s with excellent accuracy.

I used titegroup in my subsonic 44 mag. Using the 290gr NOE. It was a powder I had on the shelf, so found a use for it.

Good to know.

Initial testing with IMR227 was a little inconclusive, need to retry and maybe give the Unique a shot.

To get subsonic in the 44 mag, you really need something fast burning. Any of the traditional slow powders, really hard to get them to go slow. And you cant use 44 spcl data as its for a much shorter OAL. You push them out to mag length the pressure goes down as does velocity.
