I'm probably late to the party here. Most of my shooting is around my farm. Don't get out to my club range much. Found a bunch of 40 SW casings stamped WMA 15. They seem to be non-magnetic and lightly chromed. Seem to heavy for aluminum. Single flash hole and appear to be std. boxer primed. Also found in piles, .223 looking like the same material. it's marked Win 16 223 REM. The US Border Patrol shoots here often and I believe that's where it came from. Seems Like Zinc?

It probly is zinc coated brass. I h ad a gun dealer who shot a lot. 45 and 5.56 . He said it was easier to use in reloading then straight brass.

Scraping it deep with the Buck showed no brass color.

Might be nickel plated brass cases. Or maybe a steel case with a varnish coating

I thought one of the pistoleros would know exactly what this stuff is.

That's what I meant to say in my earlier post. Nickel not zinc coated.

For what it's worth, the WMA headstamp is assigned to the new Winchester ammunition plant in Oxford, Mississippi. Just a guess, but I believe the color is just an oxidized coating on a brass case.

I bought a lot of it when my LGS had if for $12 a box. I tried to resize a couple of cases and didn't see the use in it since the cheap price.

I had a couple bad primers in the 500 I have ran through two different weapons.

I have been finding WMA stamped 9 mm brass starting in 2014 and all of it has crimped primer, I have run some of it through my primer pocket swagger and it loads fine but probably not worth the effort with so much brass on hand.
