I was trying to fit some new acquisitions in the safe the other day, and I realized that fitting something in required something else coming out.
So, I looked at the contents. There is a shelf full of factory ammo. I rarely shoot factory ammo, so that's coming out. I need someplace to put the ammo, I can't just take it out an hang it in the air.
I get to thinking ( yeah, dangerous...), and remember an old wooden box that I made in 7th grade shop class. I go down to the barn, and start rooting around (man, someone needs to organize the barn too...) and actually find it !

Yeah, give me a break. I was, what, 11 when I made it ? And ignore the Little Kings Cream Ale stickers, I didn't start drinking that 'til I was 15.
Man, this box will work. I can fit all that factory ammo in it, and it'll be too heavy for someone to 'run' off with it.
Except :

The thing is full of long-forgotten brass.
About 1500 once-fired Nato stuff, from when my brother visited back in 1993 with a case of it.
100 38 Spl , about 1/2 is wadcutter brass
50 357 Mag.
80 .30-30 once fired
40 .30-06 once fired
a box of nny (!) headstamp 44 Mag, with cardboard separators inside the box and a $17.95 price sticker on it. Gotta be from the late 1980s or early 1990s
192862 192863
maybe 30 12-guage Turkey and slug casings.
and a lonely 45-70 brass case.
So, now I have to find somewhere to put all this brass. And, I can't just put it someplace. I have to decap it all, clean it, length trim, and chamfer.
Every case.
Or I won't be able to sleep.
All this could have been avoided if someone would just make an expandable safe. Like the Doctor Who machine, that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.
