I have a Taurus tracker 44 mag that has the short cylinder and am trying to find a boolet that will fit in it. 1.650 is about the max length that will fit. Does anyone know what the COAL is for the Lyman 429383 when seated in the crimp groove for the 44 mag?

From the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 4th edition.
COAL of 44 Special with Ly 429383 is 1.570". The 44 mag case is .125" longer than the 44 special. So the 44 mag with the Ly 429383 would be 1.695". No, it will be too long. But if you check the manual, you will find other bullets that might work.

I'll have to go out tomorrow and see if I have a 429-383 or two floating around loose--haven't cast any for a couple three years--and do some measuring, but I think you could crimp over the shoulder and still be under your 1.65" limit. That is a very accurate boolit.
