They just started making the american rifle in 450 bushmaster, they might as well do some no1s along with it. I'd rather have the bolt gun myself.

There wasn't a muzzle brake on the #1 .458 Win Mag. That .450 Bushmaster must be a monster....

This rifle needs open sights & that funky looking muzzle brake needs to be
taken off & sold on ebay to a mall ninja.

It's not, what is Ruger is thinking? It's what is the distributor thinking? They are only producing the No. 1 for distributors which are built to their spec. I agree that the brake has to go. Would be nice if it had a wood stock as well. I'm sure they will sell out the run so none of that matters.

I like laminated wood- but not on a number one. Or stainless as long as I'm picking nits. And I'm sure lots of people like muzzle brakes. I HATE them.

No Alex Henry fore end? No iron sights? and an abortion to hang off of the muzzle. I'll stick to my #1 Tropical thank you.

I think they are still on the kick from putting .450 Bushmaster in the American Ranch Rifle, which has also been given a brake. If you take a look at that reverse taper in the front, that brake is easily removable, just like on the Ranch Rifle in .450BM. Great products and they give you plenty of customizing options. It's neat that you can get a #1 thread to accept a suppressr now!

I'm relatively young and it looks all wrong to me. It's not what a No. 1 is supposed to look like.

Its ugly but probably would be fun with a suppressor. If it had a nice walnut stock and sights I would be a little more interested to it.

One of the local shops called me and said they got one in on Monday. I didn't even know this one existed. This is one of those rare times when the picture is much better than real life. Heavy, no wood, no sights and that door knob on the end of the barrel............... Hideous. I think Davidson's should of asked around before cranking out a pile of these.

I think they have a different group of buyers in mind then us.I don't know why someone would want that cal. over a.45-70 in a single shot, now a bolt or semi auto thats different.IMHO.

sorry but I like it. Nice small compact package that would be an ideal black bear, pig gun. Allready threaded too so add a suppressor and it would be that much cooler. No sights needed. Slap on a comp3 aimpoint and go hunting. I kind of chuckle at the traditionalist #1 mentality. Yes I like there old school look but there far from an old school gun. I think ruger should call them something like a pig popper and chamber them in other rounds like the 44 mag, 475 and 500 linebaugh, 444, 4570 50 beo 458 socom ect. My choice for an ideal one would be the same gun in 50 Alaskan.

The .450 has it's place. A single shot ain't it. What can this do that the 45/70 can't do better? Can't tell me that .450 would extract as good in the long term. The rim is rather flimsy when compared to that sewer drain cap the 45/70 has for a rim.

What are they thinking? Sure the 458 is cool and all from an AR platform. I can even sort of see the appeal in a bolt action, but a Ruger No. 1?

A #1 Light Sporter in .30 U.S. is MY idea of a Ruger number one.
If they made one ; I missed it!

People hunting the southern zone in Michigan will buy them up.

Yep. A few places where .450 Shrubhamster is cleared for hunting and .45-70 isn't. I bet they're gambling that the .450 market will open up a hair, what with them offering the GSR, All-american, and now this. Is a Ruger .450 AR far behind?
