NOE 360-180wfn

wondering if anyones used this casting in there revolvers
357 mag pistol 6inch security six
there 38sp pistol 2inch Taurus

and? Lever rifle?

as I'm liking the different pins for the nose,
and looking through the reloading books they have recipes for the 170g boolit
think its the MAX size for the 38sp

I have wadcutters now but they don't feed in my Henry 357 Carbine
so i was looking at this mold hoping it could be used for all three guns
but would like to hear folks who's done been there already

thanks
john

I have the Ranch Dog (TL)190gr, and load it for revolvers.

It is very similar to the NOE SC359-190-RF

I read your post a few times and I'm not really sure what you're getting at other than this quote. Yeah it is the right size and weight and can be used for all three guns.

I use the LBT version of that bullet as my primary bullet for full-power 357 loads for GP-100 and Rossi lever. With gas check for the lever and without for the revolver, although the revolver doesn't object if I use the GC -- it just doesn't give me extra points for doing so. (My alloy is water-dropped wheelweight). I believe the NOE version is small enough in the nose portion to also work well in 35 Remington, which the LBT version does not (if that is a consideration with you).

how was your accuracy with it in all three guns?
did you ever use the 38sp load in the pistol/ rifle? did accuracy suffer?

I was in on the first group buy for this mold. It works well on my Marlin rifle. I don't have a .357 pistol, so can't speak to loads for that. This is the results that I got when working up loads.

I've used the NOE 360-180 WFN in my fixed sight Dan Wesson revolver in 357 Magnum cases.

My NOE mould is a mixed mould, with half the cavities PB, other half GC.

I've been shooting the Plain Based 180 grain WFN boolit tumble lubed in my DW revolver so far with no complaints, sized at .358

My mould actually drops as large as .363 with my somewhat hard high Tin alloy. (mono mix) No problems sizing em down to .358 in one pass.

My Handload - 357 Magnum - Starline Brass - NOE 180-360 WFN Boolit - 6.0 grains Unique - Chronograph 987-1008FPS - 4 inch DW TL in BLL - OAL 1.600 - 9-17-2016

That mild Unique load is subsonic in my DW, with the 4inch barrel assembly installed.

At that velocity, the NOE 180 WFN shoots right to the fixed sights in my 714 DW.

I hope to try the Gas Checked 180 WFN boolits in my Ruger 77/357 at some point.

Have a few Gas Checks installed, and ready to go.

The boolit is very accurate in my GP 100 USING 2400. I have not shot it in my Taurus 605 but found loads using a 200gr boolit in an old Lyman book from way back. I think I found the on Lyman load over at Castpics. If your interested pm me and I'll look it up and email you the link to download the info.

Stellar accuracy in my 5.5" New Vaquero. PB over 9.5g of HS6

Using NOE's 180 RNFP's in a Rossi lever, Colt 6" Python and Ruger 357 LCR. I have a 3 cavity that drops two PB's and one GC version. All solids, wasn't interested in HP's. Mainly, use the GC bullet in the lever, due to higher velocities.

I'm using load data from RCBS's Cast Bullet Manual. Usually, I use 2400, as my go to powder for Magnum Pistol cartridges. However, my testing, gives a slight edge to H-110 in the lever. In the revolvers, I can't tell the difference.

Winelover.

I have the LBT plainbase version, weighs 180 grs. or so, wheelweight alloy. I've had the mould more than twenty years but haven't used it recently. As I recall, accuracy was decent in .357 Magnum, but I was never able to get this bullet to shoot well in .38 Special.
