That's pretty cool, but I've gotta ask why?

There is no such word as why to an inquiring mind! Hey, we help the world go around.

My question was poorly worded. Should have asked what market need this addresses, for whom or in what situation is a shotgun with a semi-permanent rifled choke the right answer?

BTW, if the the barrel and choke are threaded opposite the direction of the rifling it won't tend to unscrew when fired and could be installed or removed in the field...assuming that's a useful feature.

Holland and Holland originally marketed their Paradox guns to the big game hunters in Africa. Is there a market need today? Probably not.

The Paradox gun (a smoothbore with rifling in the forward portion of the barrel) was developed to address the needs of those folks who wanted to hunt/use (with) a single firearm when both large/medium game (like whitetail deer) and small game/game bird seasons were open at the same time.

Also, it's easier/simpler in certain jurisdictions (England comes to mind) for someone to acquire a smoothbore/shotgun than a rifle.

Thanks, seems reasonable.
