But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you."—Mark 16:6–7 (http://harvest.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4f108f827aed8d503b5fca9fa&id=37a13d180a&e=3dd732485b)Do you need a second chance today? On the first Easter morning, Peter needed one. There in the Upper Room, he had insisted that he would never deny Christ. But just as Jesus had predicted, Peter not only denied the Lord, but he denied Him three times. The last glimpse Peter had of Jesus before His crucifixion was in the glow of the fire in the high priest’s courtyard, where he actually made eye contact with Jesus. And then he went out and wept bitterly.

What kind of look do you think Jesus gave Peter when their eyes met? Do you think it was one of those I-told-you-so looks? Do you think it was one of scorn, as if to say, “How could you betray Me?” I don’t think it was either one. I think it was a look of love, a look of compassion that said, “I still love you, Peter.” And I believe that is why Peter went out and wept bitterly. He had failed the Lord so miserably. He probably thought there was no hope for him.

But then a message went out from the empty tomb that Jesus had risen, followed by these instructions, “Go, tell His disciples—and Peter. . . ” It was not, “Go tell the disciples, including Peter, James, and John. . .” It was just Peter, because Peter needed a special word of encouragement.

Do you need encouragement today? Maybe you have fallen short. You didn’t plan on it, but it happened. And like Peter, maybe you ended up with the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time, ultimately doing the wrong thing.

God gave Peter a second chance. And He will give you one, too—because Easter is for the person who needs a second chance.

We all fail God at some time and yet we are forgiven....our failure is a natural as the original sin of Adam and Eve....yet God sent his only begotten son to save us....God has even reason to not forgive us be He gives us GRACE because he knows we are going to sin. Thanks rl69 for lesson......Paul

John 21;15-17

So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah,[b (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26914b)] do you love Me more than these?”He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah,[c (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26915c)] do you love Me?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah,[d (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26916d)] do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”

Yet he denied him at the end .

Good lesson rl69 ..much to think about.

"I still love you, Peter." What a wondrous story! And I too believe as the author did, because that's just Christ's nature, at least while we yet live. He's always giving us "2nd chances." I know He's been supremely patient with me! And through it all, no matter how willful I tried to be, I always knew He still loved me, even when I knew He didn't approve of what I was doing. It's kind'a like a willful child, who tests his parents' faith and patience. But God's patience is virtually never ending, at least while we yet live. His awesome patience will always be a wonder to me. We humans aren't cut out to have THAT kind of patience. But that's His way. What a wonderful and awesome God we serve!
