My thought is your camera does a great job of focusing on letters and numbers.

Is that a build-up of lead around the breech?

From what I can see it appears to be spittin' a bit of lead with build up around the forcing cone. I'd like to know the diameter of the bullets, chamber throats, number of rounds fired, etc.

Just wondered about this forcing cone. Is it ok? Too rough? Enough?

Thumbcocker, without more specific information, as is being requested by several of those attempting to answer, it's difficult to help. I can see the lead deposit around the breech, and it looks quite heavy, as does the black fouling visible on the top strap. The questions are what bullets are you using, their diameter, how many have you fired to get the effect we're seeing, powder type and charge, and any other pertinent information you can think of. If you are using very soft cast bullets, shoot weekly, and haven't cleaned the gun for 5 years, then I see nothing unusual. If this is the result of one shooting session only where you started with a clean gun and fired only 30 rounds, then something may be wrong.

Maybe Ruger decided to chrome line throats and bores!!! Now, could someone direct me to the nearest pile of corrosive .44 special ammo?

I was posting from my phone so no long explanation. this is a pic of the forcing cone on the third barrel my GP .44 special has had on it. It seem s to me that there is not much of a forcing cone there and it was cut with a dull rock. There is no thread choke so that is good. The gun is dirty from the test firing. I will try it this weekend.
