I simply have no desire to mess with the BO in my savage bolt. It is a shaw 24 incher with 8 inch twist. I have dies for the 300 savage and I really am interested in taking 308 brass and resize and leave neck long and throat the barrel to accommodate the extra long brass. I believe I should be able to speed up real heavy boolits or am I day dreaming? Other ideas to chamber to for cast only?

If I understand correctly it's currently a .300 blk.
A .30-223 would be rechamber only but maybe would speed up the heavies.
Best, Thomas.

If it were me, I would buy a .358 Winchester barrel for the Savage (easy to headspace on the Savage) and sell the .300 BO barrel. The .358 is a decent cast shooter and forming cases is easy-peasy.

I here you about a 358 but I have one so that itch is scratched. I probably would get snarled at by the kids if I do this so maybe I should let it for them to play more with it.

Ha! Let the kids make their own! Assuming you teach them, that is. Great opportunity to pass on some skills.
