Any reason this wouldn't work?

If I had a straight wall cartridge, and were making a shotgun adapter using a pistol cartridge that was straight wall, any reaosn I couldn't chamber the barrel using a chucking reamer?

Reason is I want to make it a little longer than a std cartridge, so I can't just deep-cut a chamber using an existing reamer.

It might be just as easy to use a boring bar and bore it to what you want. Set the compound on the lathe to the lead you want. Bore chamber then throat and run lead with the compound. A sharp boring bar will give a very nice finish.

Gunsmithing by Howe gives all you need to know about boring a chamber on the lathe. I prefer to make a D reamer.
