This may be a dumb statement but, I've cast bullets for .45 / .38 / 32-20
/ 9 mm etc. with no problems with fit or finish.
I now have a friend telling me I need to start using the top punches and
size the bullets.
Never having had any issues with my bullets, are lube presses (I use
RCBS equipment) - Top Punches really needed in bullet casting?
I guess I'm looking for some step by step instructions in this matter, as
real concern is getting the best of me.
Thanks for any help.

Since you are a RCBS fan, the Lube A Matic 2 instructions may help.

If you are not having any problems.....ignore your "friend".

There are times ones you can lube a bullet...not size it and it works ok. When that occurs, count your blessings. BLL is great if that is your situation.

Sizing is necessary when the mold casts a bit too large, and helpful when seating a GC. Lubing is always necessary in some form. I bought a lube sizer primarily for the lube function. I have one set up with a high speed lube and one set up with a BP/pistol lube.

To further this question, for the last 20 or so years I have been using an RCBS LAM II set up with one lubricant for all of my bullets, rifle or pistol. I don't shoot competition, but use everything from a 30-06 for deer hunting to a 44 Mag for deer hunting to a 45 ACP for plinking and often wonder if I should be using something different for them?
