i`ve had a set of Lyman AA dies 38/357 that have the modern set up ,sizer decapper in 1, second flarin no powder thru with m flarin center plug, & finally seatin die with a spare seater plug one round & one swc plug .
these dies are in a black cardboard box .
my ??? is the sizer carbide, i`ve looked & found what looks like an inset but not definitive like a lee or rcbs die . the lyman has a yellowish tint 1/2 the thickness of the base & it only goes up in the die 3/8 " ??????
guess i could run a few cases without lube & find out the hard way LOL.

If it has an insert, it should be carbide. The older AA Lyman dies were not carbide, but that doesn't mean much. In many of my die sets I have substituted a carbide sizer for the older steel die.

That would be carbide. Steel dies have a solid wall, full length.

All of Lyman's straight wall sets have three dies and, since at least 1965, have included the "M" style expander.
