Awhile back I picked up a Uberti Cattleman Old West Model with Old Finish. This is the factory "Antiqued" version. The revolver was discussed here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?329826-Uberti-1873-Cattleman-quot-Antique-quot-questions

After having it in my hot hands for a bit, I finally made it out for a range trip. For this trip I used loads containing the Hornady 250 gr XTP bullet, the Lyman 452423 Bullet, and some of my old loads with the Lee 452-255-RF bullet. All shooting was done at 25 yards.

Here is a picture of the gun from this morning before I began shooting:
191920

First up were the Hornady XTP loads using Unique powder, Starline Brass, and CCI 300 primers:
191922

I was very much excited with how things went. Accuracy was certainly pleasing, and joy of joys the sights were well regulated. These were fired from a bag on a bench. Any one of these loads is acceptable, but I will use the 8.7 gr load from this point on.

Next up were the cast loads using the Lyman 452423 bullet lubed with a 50/50 mix of Lotak Hard and Thompson's Blue Angel. Powder used was Unique. The last target on the low right (Dirty Bird) was fired from 25 yards standing one handed using a load I made back in 2011 which was 9.5 gr of Herco, Speed Green Lube, Lee 452-255-RF bullet, Starline bras, and CCI primers:
191923

Once again, joy of joys, the sights were well regulated. I will choose the 9.0 gr Unique load for the 452423 as an everyday working load, and the 9.5 gr Herco load is always a good standby!!

At the end of it all I am very happy with this revolver. It is pretty well made, accurate, has a good trigger, and the sights are well regulated. For the $350 I paid, it is an absolute steal but I wouldn't be opposed to paying full price for one of Uberti's nicer models if the quality is the same as this one.

I hope you enjoyed reading this!

You are a good shot. I wish I could do that at 25 yards. I also figured/assumed my .45 Colts were regulated to a 255 grain bullet at 950 FPS. If you get another clone, look at a tuned revolver from Long Hunter

I have been really flirting with getting an El Patron as well. It sure does look tempting. The main holdup is that I also want the Uberti SASS Pro Short Stroke model and can't decide between the two.

I had Long Hunter tune one of my Blackhawks. They did a good job on it. I would like the short stroked Runnin-Iron

Taylor's offers several models of the 1873 Cattleman which are manufactured in Italy by Uberti, a well-known Italian gun manufacturing company that is now owned and operated by Beretta Holding.

That is a good price for a decent single action with custom work included. It might beat buying a Ruger and end up having to send it back to correct factory flaws.
