I am looking for load data for the X-treme 150 gr plated 30-30 bullet. I want to keep the load around/under 1,600 fps. The powders I have on hand are; IMR-4895, Varget, MP5744, WC846, 2400, SR4756, Unique, Titegroup, and Bullseye. I am looking for a starting point to be able to chronograph and work up the load. This load will be used in three 30-30 rifles, a Winchester 94 and two Marlins 336. All rifles have 24 inch barrels. This load will be used for practice in NRA CLA silhouette matches.

Your 2400 might be a good candidate. I've been working with cast in similar velocity ranges in the 160 to 180 grain range and have found IMR4227 to work very well. I've been using between 15 and 16 grains with several bullets and accuracy is good and it burns clean. I know it's not a powder you list but it is where I would start if I could.
Good Luck,
Rick

If memory serves, 16 gr of 2400 or 13 gr of unique should get you in the ballpark, maybe start a grain low on each. Careful on that velocity, the jackets come off those plated bullets. The 1500 limit they used to have on the box was no joke.

i called x-treme and they told me their plated 30-30 bullets were good up to 1,900 fps. but i have read that you should not run them past 1,600 fps. i use X-treme 158 gr and 125 gr 357 mag bullets for the CLA pistol cartridge matches. they hold up and group well across the course running at just under 1,200 fps. X-treme stated their pistol bullets can go up to 1,500 fps. so based on this it looks like somewhere around the 1,600 fps to 1,400 fps should work as a good practice load for the chickens (50 meters), pigs (100 meters), turkeys (150 meters) and rams (200 meters). the load might even work out to be the match load for the chickens, pigs and turkeys.
