I have a question. If I was to find some genuine linotype, (which is a very hard alloy, I have been told :) ), would it be a good alloy for high or higher velocity loads in a rifle boolit? Just curious, I may or may not be able to get a little bit.

Lino will get you up in the low mid 2xxx range with boolits that have enough lube to go there, BUT other alloys will get you much better accuracy in that range and above.

Like what, if you don't mind me asking.

Depends on what you mean by "high or higher velocity loads". I recently ran tests of an alloy approximating Lyman's #2 (15-18 BHN) and linotype (22 BHN). Testing was done with 3 different .308 Winchester rifles and 311291. The softer alloy maintained the same level of accuracy as linotype up through 2500 fps. Accuracy was equally "good" or "bad" between the two alloys at any given velocity. At a certain level of accelleration a certain level of bullet hardness is needed to resist undue setback and obturation.

I agree with Larry. Factor of pressure also. Use the slowest practical powder you can to get the velocity you want/need.

Got my Chrony back, that helps!
