I acquired several pounds of titewad powder recently at a bargain price....I load primarily cast bullets in 9mm luger, 40 S&W, 45acp, and 38 special in that order. Anyone have good luck with titewad with any of these calibers? Thank you for any info you care to share....

Should mention my favorite load in 9mm thus far with 120-125 cast in 3.8 grns of 7625... Functions well, prints well, and burns clean in all my 9mm pistols. Unfortunately I am nearly out of it and haven't seen anyone who stocks it locally.

I have used Titewad in my 9mm for boolits from 95 grains up through 125 grains. Functions the gun just fine and shoots accurately and cleanly.
I get good speed with it too. Hodgdon site has some data for the 9mm and lots of data for the 45ACP.
I used the load for 9mm listed on the site for the 124grain boolit under boolits weighing 120-125 grains and it works fine for me.
I load the 95 grain boolits with 3.8 grains and get 1140fps in my Beretta 92fs. Since this load isn't listed in a manual, you will need to work up to it in your weapon.

Only thing I've shot it in thus far was .45acp in my SA 1911. Was fine in that.

I have some I hope to shoot soon. Essentially a .44 mag load of 4.5 grains of titewad in a .444 marlin case.

I also shoot 120-124 grn Lee mold bullets. Good to hear Titewad has worked well for you through those weight ranges. I am anxious to see if TW will perform as well in my pistols. Thx for the info...

Look carefully at the load data Hodgdon gives. You will find that while the charge weights are small, pressures run at the upper end of the SAAMI pressure limits while speeds are mid range. In 45 ACP a max load of 3.3 grans under a 230 grain bullet gives 767 fps at a pressure of 19,400 psi SAAMI pressure limit of 45 ACP is 23,000 psi. In 9m Luger, using a 124 grain bullet a max load of 3.4 grains gives 924 FPS at a pressure of 32,200 psi. SAAMI pressure limit for 9mm Luger is 35,000 psi.

This powder has been around a while. It was developed as a shotgun power which used low charge weights to reduce recoil in standard velocity target loads. What I gather from Hodgdon only showing these two pieces of data is that the powder is relatively unsuited to use in handgun cartridges. I tried the 45 ACP data in 44 Special with a 250 grain Keith bullet and got squib loads. I quit experimenting with it. In 9mm I found Titegroup to be a better shooter for me, but my 45 absolutely dotes on the 3.3 grain of Titewad with both Lee's 230 grain round nose and Lee's 230 grain truncated cone boolits.

JohnH--- I would pretty much agree with everything you said. I only use it in the lighter weight boolits in 9mm and for wadcutter loads in my 38 specials.
Any time you have a powder/cartridge combination that uses small charges and has a small spread from minimum to maximum load, you have to be careful.
I like it a lot for light loaded 38 special wadcutters since it gives me the chance to actually see the powder in the case since it is fairly bulky.
In the 9mm, the load I use for the 95 grain boolit nearly fills the case. No possibility of a double charge.
I have no experience with 45ACP.
