Recenty purchased a Win/Miroku 1873 in 357. I never had more trouble fitting a bullet to particular gun than this one.Diameter was not the problem length was the problem, really wanted to use 180 gr. bullets but all were to long.Bought a 158gr RCBS RNFP mold cast a bunch of bullets with Lyman #2 alloy.I do like RCBS molds on sale for $66.00.
I loaded up 80 round with 4 different powders all starting loads,2400,Blue Dot,Tite Group and IMR 4227,lubed with Ben's Red.As expected the 2400 shot the best with the IMR 4227 being a close second for accuracy.I could feel lube on the fired cases when extracted.I was very pleasantly surprised with not a speck of lead anywhere and 4 solvent soaked patches and the bore was pristine.I intentionally tried to get the barrel warm and see if I could lead it up a little, didn't happen,I shot all 80 rounds in less than a hour. When I made the lube I followed the directions to a tee and very pleased with results.
Thanks Ben for your creative efforts.

Ben. After I had made my first batch some `helpful friends` helped themselves to most of it! I`ve made a second batch that is `squirreled away` for myself mostly. Of the guys that got into the first batch, nothing but praise and awe about it used in pistols and rifles.Robert

Would Ben's Red bullet lube work with the 45 Colt cartridge when its loaded with black powder?
I suspect it should work perfectly.

I've always read that petroleum based lube and Black Powder are a bad combination.

Ben's Red does have petroleum based compounds in it.

I've heard the the same information about petro based lube not working well with Black Powder.
See thread link below particularly posts 6 to 9.

I was just wondering if anyone has gotten around to actually trying Ben's Red with BP?

My lubri-sizer is almost empty with the SPG its charged with now. When I refill, it will be with Ben's Red and I will be trying it with BP. In the coming months I will report on my experience using Ben's Red with BP in my new Ruger SASS edition New Vaqueros in 45 Colt.
My first use with these new revolvers will be factory nitro powder loads, then my nitro handloads lastly with Goex BP. It's going to be a fun summer.
