I had the honor today to assist receiving donated supplies for the ranchers and farmers who lost so much in the wildfires this week. The county Ag Life building was reception center for supplies other than hay, feed, and fencing supplies, which were staged at temporary holding locations at feed lots and other places with room. It was amazing to watch the precision with which doners were directed to the correct locations and then how all needs were taken care of with an army of volunteers calling, hauling, loading and unloading everything from vet supplies to meals and drinking water. Volunteer labor for rebuilding fences, moving cattle, bottle feeding orphaned calves. One board listed available grazing that was donated, and those requesting grazing. Thousands of cattle lost. Miles of fencing destroyed. Devastation worse than can be imagined. One rancher lost all but 6 steps and a few heifers of over 9 hundred head.
Hay by the truckload is pouring in donated by generous souls from as far as Houston being hauled free of charge by truckers 700 miles one way.
It would take a book to list all that has been given and how many are giving their time and goods/money. People from Vermont were asking what was needed in one phone call I heard part of. Calls pouring in from all over the U S. Thank you America!
