Guys,
I just bought this original saddle ring carbine and need to feed it.
Looking at moulds in particular. The lyman 165gn 319427 allegedly drops at 0.321.The saeco 165gn looks like it should drop at 0.323. This is off Buffalo Arms website.
Havent slugged it yet but would presume 0.323 would be better.
Has any one used either of these moulds and can confirm the spec?
Thanks,
Tony:castmine:

Nope, but the RCBS 32-170FN is sort of the standard or the 32's these days. Needs a GC but might be worth a try.

I also have an old Marlin 1893 in 32-40 although mine is a half octagon half round rifle with 26" barrel and full mag .

I have used the RCBS 32-170GC mould and XMP5744 to take a not so bright 4 pointer a couple years ago .

I also have a nice Lyman 321297 GC mould that shoots pretty well in my old rifle as well !

Incidently my 32-40 was manufactured in 1906 [smilie=1:

I never slugged this rifle or any of my 32 Specials and I do run them all thru a .323" sizing die .

Incidently Ranch Dog has a 323-170GC mould in the works , this should be a good one once he gets the bugs worked out ! And if he has them in 6 bangers well my 32 caliber casting problems should be over. It'll take no time to run out a couple hundred !

I use the Lyman 321297 GC in my .32-40 Marlin 1893 with good results.

Thanks for your replies guys. I am going to go with the saeco PB mould at 0.323.
I am only using this for occasional paper punching to 200 yards.

Tony
